Recently Announced Delays Related to the Small Business Insurance Requirements

The Obama Administration has very recently postponed a requirement until 2016 that all mid-sized employers (50-99 employees) offer health insurance to those employees who work at least 30 hours a week. This mandate was previously delayed until 2015. Also larger employers (100 or more) will only have to provide insurance to 70% of their full-time employees in 2014 and 95% in the next year. This extension has implications for both employers to make the transition and individual employees who would otherwise have benefited immediately from this mandate.
