Does the ACA Dictate Which Services are Considered Preventative?

on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 9:00am

Group health plans are prohibited from imposing cost-sharing requirements for the recommended preventive services when those services are provided by in-network providers. If your insurance coverage went into effect after March 23, 2010 (the date the Affordable Care Act was signed into law) the full cost of preventative care such as preventative colonoscopies should be covered.

A full list of preventative services covered under the Affordable Care Act can be found at http://www.healthcare.gov/news/factsheets/2010/07/preventive-services-list.html
